I always feel so at ease with everyone who works there. The employees are so nice and it is a very stress free environment which says a lot for a dental practice. I was recommended this office by a coworker and am so glad he told me. I’ve had many procedures done and all have gone smooth and painless. Dr. Paulerio is personable and has a nice sense of humor. I am really glad I found this clinic in my neighborhood. I have a lot of anxiety about dental work, along with TMJ and headache issues. I was fearful and worried about needing dental work. I had an urgent issue and Dr. Paulerio was able to see me in a very timely manner. He took the time to explain everything and worked with me so we come up with a good plan for my care. He listened to my concerns and was very kind and compassionate. Diana at the front desk is awesome, sweet, knowledgable, and made me feel like I was in good hands right away. Hannah did an awesome job at assisting and took a lot of care to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Paulerio was very mindful of my pain control, and I had time to rest and relax my tense jaw muscles during my treatment. Dr. Paulerio is calm, caring, experienced and thoughtful. I appreciate the thoroughness of the 3d scan which helped identify a serious issue with a tooth I did not realize needed treatment. Thank you for taking such great care of me.

I might even go so far as to say: I had FUN at the dentist! Special shout-out to Diana for being the absolute BEST. I moved recently from Oakland to San Diego & unprompted, she offered to help me secure my dental records and X-rays by calling them on my behalf. I’ve been going to Dr. Paulerio’s office for over 10 years. It took a lot to get me in through the doors, since I had been avoiding the dentist due to fear. Today I actually sat in the chair and thought to myself, “I really love coming here.” I was shocked to hear myself think such a thing. The staff here is amazing. The dental hygienists use the newest state of the art technology for painless and quick dental cleanings, and are so personable. And Dr. Paulerio is the absolute best - always recommending what he thinks is the best option. So thankful for honest and understanding providers.

Dr. Paulerio from PL Family Dentistry is AWESOME. Dr Paulerio is by far the best Dentist my wife and I have ever been to. A friend recommended Dr. Paulerio and he is my dentist for life! Dr. Paulerio has fixed the work of many of my prior dentists. His staff is spectacular and together they have a synergy which shows in their amazing work. Dr. Paulerio has a machine in his office that makes crowns and he uses this new teeth cleaning technology that shows all plaque on your teeth. In the past, I'd have to have several dentist appointments to complete a crown. At Dr. Paulerio's, crowns/veneers are not only done in one visit, but they are also done correctly. Dr. P is a dental artist/expert. Recently, Dr. Paulerio did 2 veneers on my wife's front teeth. She put all her faith in Dr. P and no one would ever know her front teeth were veneers. They're incredible! My wife used to avoid photos and this has completely changed thanks to Dr. P's great work. If you're looking for a new dentist, we highly recommend him.

I've been going to Point Loma Family Dentistry for about four years now and have been very happy with their services, their skills and the pleasant environment of their office. They were very proactive in taking reasonable precautions during the pandemic and also in bringing in new technologies. Recently they have offered Guided Biofilm Therapy which has made the cleaning process more comfortable and efficient. I am happy to recommend them to anyone looking for dental services.
Best dental procedure I've ever had! Root canal to permanent crown in one day! Even the shot barely hurt, where with others it was very painful. I'll be seeing Dr. Paulerio for all my dental care now. Highly recommended!

I waited until I had just about everything I needed to do, to write a review. Dr. Paulerio was referred to me by my friend and man was he right! The Dr. is a stud, having the greatest and latest tech and being a really friendly guy, but his team is awesome as well. Starts with Diana who is fun to deal with right off the bat. The assistants are very welcoming and friendly. I had a dental implant done, my first ever, and not only was it a great experience, but extremely quick. I believe I was in and out of there within 30-40 minutes. Also had 4 fillings done in a breeze. Just had a dental cleaning and Chelsea was awesome, always keeping me distracted throughout the process. I am a wimp when it comes to pain and these folks kept me comfortable the entire time. I remember my last filling took longer for the anesthesia to kick in then it took to actually fill the tooth. One of my favorite things about this office is that the doctor and hygienist keep me updated on what they are doing and what is coming next. I deeply appreciate knowing what step I am in and how close I am to the end. Glad to have found this dental office!

I have not visited a dentist since my dentist retired several years back. Now in search of a new dentist came across Point Loma Dentistry. Was very impressed starting with my initial phone call to the office, spoke with Suzie and she was very informative. My visit was very pleasant and professional. I do need extensive work therefore lots to think about before my next appointment.

Then, I've had to go to more Dentists to fix the work of prior Dentists. A friend recommended Dr. Paulerio and he is my dentist for life! Dr. Paulerio has fixed the work of many of my prior dentists. PLEASE READ!! If you TRULY CARE about the health of your teeth and you want EXCELLENT service, you MUST go here. This review will be long, and I know most people won’t read it. So I had to put that statement first. No need to look for a dentist anymore, if you found this review, THIS IS THE PLACE YOU NEED TO GO FOR WHATEVER NEED YOU HAVE. My review is long but it really shows the care and professionalism I’ve received during the hardest change to my life. So if you're truly concerned about where to go, I suggest you read the WHOLE review. The health of my teeth was on the decline for a while, the dentist I went to before this one wanted to do a bunch of small surgeries to draw out the problem instead of fixing it. After being in an accident and having some of my teeth loosened, I decided to switch dentist for a second opinion. The day after the accident, I called a bunch of dentist for emergency care. The reason why I choose Dr.Paulerio was because of the receptionist Diana. Her warm personality was beaming through the phone call. It was a weird reason to choose a dentist, but it turns out it’s not just the receptionist but EVERYONE who works there had that same sense of care. Because of my teeth’s health and the accident, my best course of action was to get dentures. My whole life was going to change. The transition was one of the hardest experiences of my life but throughout the whole time Dr.Paulerio and his assistant Susan were always there to help me. They literally treated my teeth like it was their own. When I got my first set of dentures, they didn’t really fit right. I emailed them almost every week with concerns or questions. And every time I emailed, they would schedule an appointment IMMEDIATELY, sometimes even within the SAME DAY. It boggled my mind how fast each responds was. It truly felt like they cared more than I did about my teeth. Since my teeth weren’t healthy at the beginning of the process my dentures were slightly off. Dr. Paulerio noticed this immediately and wanted to do the whole process over. My situation was unique and Dr.Paulerio and Susan had to use techniques they haven’t done before all just to make sure I was happy. Their dedication to my teeth went beyond all expectations. They took so much pride in their work. No matter what problem I emailed them about, they would try anything they can to fix it. They never made me feel like I was a bother to them. And trust me, I emailed and called a lot! I’d often apologize for reaching out too much, but they always made me feel like it wasn’t a bother and that I was doing the right thing. They were just dentists, then they became friends. Friends concerned for my health and well-being. Once my teeth problems were fixed, we all laughed and celebrated together because the journey was long but we got to the end. Once again, they were just as happy as me, like they were working on their own teeth. My girlfriend went in as well, just for minor teeth care and received the same treatment. These people just care. They must love their work and the feeling of helping people. So I hope you choose this place. Because for the rest of my life, I will always lead people back to Dr.Paulerio. No matter where I live. Dr. Paulerio is an outstanding dentist. My girlfriend and I have been patients of Dr. Paulerio and his awesome team for a few years now, and between the two of us have had several crowns, fillings, root canals, and 2 Implants. He is very personable and highly skilled with a very high tech dental office. Pain or discomfort is never an issue when I'm in his chair, and my girlfriend feels the same. Dr. P performs most of the procedures that some other dentists we went to in the past would refer out to an expensive specialist. It's really nice to have everything done start to finish at his office, and his crowns are done in 1 office visit- no temporary crowns or dental labs, because he has the lab right there in his office. Chelsea, the hygienist, is very gentle, sweet, knowledgeable, and always gives the time and attention to do a thorough teeth cleaning. The office manager Diana does a great job of working with my often inconvenient schedule. Dr. P's office is great, we recommend it to anyone!

I was referred by my boyfriend who usually hates going to the dentist but scheduled an appointment based on their reviews. After his appointment he said "you need to schedule an appointment here, they will take care of you". And he was absolutely correct! Diana, the Office Manager - is so pleasant, funny, welcoming, and warm I knew just from scheduling my appointment that I was in good hands. Upon my arrival, Diana confirmed what I already knew that she and the rest of the staff would be exceptional! She even warned me while taking my temp outside (part of the many COVID procedures to keep everyone safe) that they had their AC on and I may be chilly in just my T-Shirt and Shorts (it was 88 degrees outside) so I brought in a blanket and thanks to her warning I was so comfortable during my appointment that I even joked with the hygienist that I might fall asleep! Chelsea the hygienist was absolutely amazing. She showed me my x-rays and explained in detail what she was looking at/for. Dr. Paulerio and his entire staff are wonderful and always have been. We have known them for many years and it has always been a good experience. Would not change a thing. Ten stars for sure. Our whole family goes there and we all feel the same way. Perfect!!! Always had pain after cleaning but never with Chelsea. She does fabulous work and Diana is always so upbeat and helpful. Chelsea, Diana and Dr P are amazing! A friend of mine reccommended PL Family Dentristry when we moved back to SD from Denver (glad to be back home). The office is super clean, the team are SUPER friendly! I am a serial white knuckeler when it comes to the dentist.. I was surprisingly "calm" the last few visits... am I cured of my dentophobia? Dr Paulerio is by far the best Dentist I've ever been to. As a child, my parents never made me brush my teeth. This was most damaging during the time I wore braces. As an adult, I've paid for the lack of dental hygiene from my youth. I've lost count of how many fillings and crowns I've had. I've been to so many Dentists from San Diego to Los Angeles. Then, I've had to go to more Dentists to fix the work of prior Dentists. A friend recommended Dr. Paulerio and he is my dentist for life! Dr. Paulerio has fixed the work of many of my prior dentists. His staff is spectacular and together they have a synergy which shows in their amazing work. Dr. Paulerio has a machine in his office that makes crowns. In the past, I'd have to have several dentist appointments to complete a crown. At Dr. Paulerio's, crowns/veneers are not only done in one visit, but they are also done correctly. Dr. P is a dental artist/expert. Today, Dr. Paulerio did 2 veneers on my front teeth. I've wanted veneers forever. In my adult life, I avoid taking photos or smiling with teeth because my front teeth are discolored (which is very noticeable on camera). I've avoided veneers because most of the ones I've seen either look fake or there's a dark line where the tooth meets the gum. I put all my faith in Dr. P and I'm sitting here typing this review with 2 of the most beautiful front teeth I've ever seen. They look completely natural and this has boosted my self esteem immensely. I can't thank Dr. P enough! I will no longer be avoiding the camera and look forward to many photos to come with my daughter and husband.....photos my daughter will cherish as the years go on. 5 stars is an understatement for this rating. Dr. P and his staff deserve 5 million stars. Thank you so very much Dr. Paulerio.

Dr. Paulerio is an outstanding dentist. My girlfriend and I have been patients of Dr. Paulerio and his awesome team for a few years now, and between the two of us have had several crowns, fillings, root canals, and 2 Implants. He is very personable and highly skilled with a very high tech dental office. Pain or discomfort is never an issue when I'm in his chair, and my girlfriend feels the same. Dr. P performs most of the procedures that some other dentists we went to in the past would refer out to an expensive specialist. It's really nice to have everything done start to finish at his office, and his crowns are done in 1 office visit- no temporary crowns or dental labs, because he has the lab right there in his office. Chelsea, the hygienist, is very gentle, sweet, knowledgeable, and always gives the time and attention to do a thorough teeth cleaning. The office manager Diana does a great job of working with my often inconvenient schedule. Dr. P's office is great, we recommend it to anyone!

I was referred to Dr. Paulerio from a friend about 3 years ago. At the time, I was living in Point Loma so his office was very convenient. However, I moved to Rancho Bernardo about 2 years ago. Now, Dr. Paulerio's office is about 30 mins away but I still visit him, Diana, and Chelsea every 3 months for my routine cleanings - his team and services are that good. Parking is easy, they're never unreasonably behind (like so many other medical practitioners), and it always feels like they're looking out for your best interest. I'm grateful to have found them.

Super surprised by this office. On the outside it looks like a 1970s dated building, but inside it is all remodeled and Dr. Paulerio has all of the dental gadgets that you could dream of. He can even make crowns in the office!! He's a one stop shop, which is great for a person like me. His staff is so friendly too :)

First, let me say, I love Chelsea. She is an amazing dental hygienist. She has always been very thorough and very sweet. She makes her patients feel comfortable and relaxed. The Office Manager Diana exceeded expectations from the get-go when she contacted me to set up an appointment. Chelsea, my Hygienist, was an absolute joy! Her vivacious, friendly personality put me at ease and her care was very informative. Lastly, Dr. Paulerio was very friendly, warm and knowledgeable. LOVE this practice! My friend, a former dental hygienist, recommended Dr. Paulerio after having many disappointing experiences with dentists in the San Diego area. Three years later I continue to find that recommendations aren't made based on them making money (which I've experienced multiple times in the past) but rather based on your true dental health needs. I had an emergency regarding a locked jaw and they fit me in and gave me recommendations that worked.
Dr. P and his staff are the most caring, capable and conscientious crew in San Diego. I cannot recommend them highly enough for all aspects of dental care. I wouldn't think of having anyone else touch my mouth!

As I sat in my car the employees filed in, each one waived to me with a big smile. Come on, this can't be a dentist office. I walked into their office ( brand new remodel with all the new equipment) and was greeted with a big "GOOD MORNING, how was your weekend". Treating me like I was an old friend. Quickly I was shown to the "chair" yet another friendly professional person took excellent care of me. Including a visit with the dentist. All the while answering any questions I had. 90 minutes later, my cleaning finished, questions answered I was checked out quickly and my next appointment set. I just wish all my DR's appointments went with the ease of this painless and professional visit.

Really good service, cleaning was a breeze by Chelsea, Doctor was fabulous. I think prices are a bit inflated compared to my previous dentist but cost of living increases apply, I'm sure. The doctor tried to take into account finances and insurance particulars rather than trying to sell me products, which I appreciate. I will stick them for awhile.
I just had a wisdom tooth extracted and can't believe that it was so quick and pain free! There was literally no pain and after the numbing took effect my tooth was removed in about 80 seconds! Don't be afraid if you have a tooth to be removed, as I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't feel anything!
I was looking for a local dentist for a while. I ran across Dr Paulerio on line. I was absolutley amazed at the proffesional level of care I recieved from reception to dental higentist to doctor. Everyone took great care but most of all TIME to explain everything. I found a winning dentist office in San Diego and will certainly tell that to everyone who asks!
I just had a wisdom tooth extracted and can't believe that it was so quick and pain free! There was literally no pain and after the numbing took effect my tooth was removed in about 80 seconds! Don't be afraid if you have a tooth to be removed, as I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't feel anything!

As a daughter of a dentist, it's been hard in the ensuing years since my Pop's retirement. Long story, but bottom line is I'm happy with my experiences here. It's mostly just Chelsea cleaning and she is friendly and gentle. I'm not vain, but always go home, smile in the mirror and am happy with what I see. I have to say that Diana has always been the biggest smiling point. I was completely satisfied with Dr. Heintz, also. When he retired and Dr. Paulerio took over, I was hoping for a good transition. I went to Dr. Paulerio's office yesterday for the first time and had an excellent experience. Dr. Paulkerio and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I had been going to a dentist prior that I felt was preforming unnecessary services and tacking on extra charges, after my visit with Dr. Paulerio these feelings were confirmed. I am so happy to have found a dentist I can trust that is not going to preform painful and expensive services on me just to make an extra buck. I would highly recommend trying Dr. Paulerio and his staff out!
I have been going to Dr Paulerio for many years and have always been pleased with the excellent service he provides. Diana at the front desk is fantastic and keeps the office running smoothly. Chelsea is the best, I love that feeling of clean teeth after seeing her! They both are always so enthusiastic about what they do and always giving me advice on how to prevent future problems. I recently switched all 3 of my kids from a pediatric dentist to Dr Paulerio at their request and they had no complaints. One even commented on how her teeth felt much cleaner after seeing Chelsea than with the pediatric dentist.

Definitely the best dentist visit I can remember having. Diana at the front desk was very friendly, professional and awesome enough to give me a head's up the day before when she thought my insurance wouldn't fully cover my appointment. Chelsea, the dental hygienist, did the majority of my exam and cleaning. She was extremely thorough and explained all of the procedures she was employing. She was really careful that I felt comfortable and has a easy-going and friendly manner (she adorably referred to my wisdom tooth as a "wise guy"). She made me feel deservedly guilty about not flossing, but in an expertly gentle way. The office is clean and bright with nice big windows overlooking the main road. Dr. Paulerio did a final assessment and while he seconded Chelsea's concerns about my partially-erupted wisdom teeth, he presented the facts of the procedure and next steps in a pressure-free manner unlike other health care professionals I've seen. I decided I did want them removed and at the end of it all, Diana, being awesome again says "Why don't we do the [prescan for wisdom teeth removal] right now?" saving me a trip! Thanks to all!
Everything about Dr Paulerio and his staff are top notch! I had been going to my previous dentist for over 20 years when he suddenly retired. I wasn't thrilled with his replacement and decided it was time to find a new dentist. Dr Paulerio's office manager Diane was so pleasant to work with and made it simple to transfer my dental records and verify insurance coverage. I've been coming here for a couple of years now. Even though the office seems small, they do a lot of their own work right out of their lab on premises. Chelsea the hygienist is a super cool lady. So fun to chat with and she always takes the weirdness out of someone scraping the yuck off your teeth. They have the coolest photo/ X-ray technology there! I always feel like they are never missing anything! Dr Paulerio is very relaxed and professional. Very cool guy and you can tell his patients love him. I always feel like I'm in great hands between the doc and Chelsea.
Had to get my fiance in, and he hates the dentist... but he actually really liked Dr. Paulerio and his staff! They even opened up early to squeeze us in! I think I will be switching over to a new dentist!

Dr. Paulerio is the nicest guy AND the best dentist you could hope to have. I am always very impressed with how he stays up on the cutting edge of technology, hires very knowledgable and caring staff, and is such a great person. My previous dentist in Claremont Mesa was like attending a cross between a cattle call and what I imagine seeing the prison dentist must be like.... I can't recommend Dr. Paulerio highly enough!

REVIEW VIA STORY- I'm in the waiting room reading a nice assortment of magazines published this month (a rarity in most doctors offices). My wife is getting her teeth cleaned. My wife's perspective: The staff is super friendly. The building always has open parking spots. I genuinely like the doctor. My perspective: The staff is in fact super friendly. There are always parking spots. The doctor is very nice. My wife had her wisdom teeth taken out here and she was in a lot of pain. I came down here and explained the pain situation to the doctor and he happily obliged my request for stronger drugs for my wife. Summary: Friendly staff, great building, and is led by a great doctor who genuinely cares about making sure you're happy/comfortable. Easiest 5 stars I've ever awarded.
Dr Paulerio is a great dentist! I was a patient of the previous dentist, Dr Heintz, since I began going to dentists so it's nice to still see Diana's smiling face in the office and it's nice to know I still have a dentist that I can trust. As far as bi-annual appointments go, Chelsea is wonderful and my teeth are looking great!

I was a patient of the previous dentist and reluctantly switched to Dr. Paulerio when the previous dentist retired. I've been thrilled! I've had to have several crowns, which Dr. Paulerio makes in his office the day of your appointment. I've never had such great results, so yesterday I had him crown my two upper front teeth for cosmetic reasons. Such a wonderful transformation, I couldn't be more pleased. Dr. Paulerio is an artist. You couldn't find a better dentist anywhere.
I was one of Dr Paulerio's first patients when he joined this practice with the previous Dr, and he has always been exceptional. He is very gentle when working on my teeth, and makes sure that my problems with a high tolerance to pain medication doesn't cause problems when getting my teeth numbed. The staff is always interested in what is going on in their patients' lives, and really gets to know each patient personally. Diana is more than just a receptionist, she is a genuinely caring person who wants to make sure you have the best experience possible while there. Everyone I have come across is very friendly, and they are willing to work with you if you have a legitimate financial problem and need to work out a payment system. I have recommended Dr Paulerio to ALL of my friends who need a good dentist, and will continue to do so. The only downside is they don't take medi-cal or medicare. Other than that, no complaints! My entire family (30+ people, all over San Diego) travel to Point Loma to see him!

Dr. P became our dentist after Dr. Heinz retired. There's never been a lull in the excellent service provided. Not only do I drive from Carlsbad but so does my husband and adult sons for cleaning and dental work. Both of my sons attended school in Northern Ca.. When they had dental issues Dr. P's receptionist Diana answered all of our questions, consulting Dr. P if necessary. I always appreciated the 2nd opinion. Diana is amazing. She has a lot of dental expertise for someone who isn't a dentist. She answers my dental insurance questions and is always cheery and nice. We've been going to that office for 20+ years. I never worry about the prices quoted because they are completely reasonable. In North County we got quoted a very high dental bill $10-12,000 for our kid's dental work and after talking with Diana and Dr. P. we figured out that the new dentist was going to remove every filling and replace them. With Point Loma Dentist you get honesty in pricing and excellence in dentistry. I can't say enough about them.
I had the best experience here. I am in the dental field and know it is tough to find an experienced, caring, knowledgeable, clean, fun, and honest office. I have found all of that with Dr. Paulerio and his girls. I even have a slight fear of dental work (Yes I said I am in the field haha) but not here. Chelesa is amazing at what she does! I came in for a regular check up and cleaning - I had done my research via yelp prior to going in - and I must say - a wonderful pleasant dental experience! In mid May I broke a molar, was leaving town and they got me in with little to no notice. Repaired the tooth painlessly and got me set up for an appointment to get a crown. Today I received the crown, they use state of the art imaging and fabrication technology so the entire procedure is done in a single visit, again painlessly. Your can actually watch the crown being created which is a very interesting process in and of itself. Dr. Paulerio is Incredibly considerate, professional and also part artist. His staff is equally reviewed. My entire family comes to this office and I highly recommend. By the way, I do not like going to the dentist so for me to actually feel this good about the experience says something.

I'm so glad I chose this place to get my teeth looked at! I had some problems with my teeth/gums and while I was so nervous to find out what was going on, Dr. Paulerio was so calm and honest when he perfectly explained what was going on with my oral health, but assured me I was going to be okay and this would be taken care of. I was relieved! Dr. Paulerio is really nice, along with his staff members. One of the other dentist, Chelsea, is the one who worked on my mouth, and all I have to say is she is super sweet! She made me feel comfortable and relaxed. During the whole time of my little procedure, I wasn't feeling anxious or scared like I would normally be when I see any other dentist or doctor. She was also very cool to talk to and funny! Chelsea and Dr. Paulerio did a great job helping me get my oral health back on track. I will definitely be going back to this place for my check ups or if anything else goes on with my teeth! And if I ever one day have kids, I will for sure bring them to Dr. Paulerio.I even had my boyfriend come to them for his check up and he approved of this dentistry. I strongly recommend this place! The staff are easy to talk to, they'll make you feel comfortable, and most of all very nice.
Coming from a serious dental-phobe, Dr. Paulerio is the real deal. He and his staff are super professional and empathetic regarding my dental needs. I've been to him a few times, and the experience has only gotten better. Both he and his dental hygienist are very gentle - very little pain if any during my cleaning. I hardly ever make Yelp reviews, but I thought I would make one for this dentist office because I appreciated so much their honesty and good business ethics. The past two dentists I went two completely tried to up sell me on all these procedures and things that I simply didn't need. Louis did the opposite, and told me that my mouth was "boring" and that I am good to go. ha. The staff was wonderful as well. I am super to have found a solid, honest, local dentist. Yah!

This dentist is amazing! I have always hated going to the dentist because my teeth are so sensitive. I told him this and he made sure I was very comfortable before starting. I no longer put off going to the dentist. He makes it pain free. He is a great dentist and his staff is outstanding as well. I would highly recommend this dentist. You will not be disappointed.

Dr. Paulerio has spent many hours with me in the chair. Is it fun? No. Is he good? Yes. He is expanding recently and has a few new faces on the staff. He's a quality guy and hires quality people. His office mgr (Diana) has been around for years and is incredibly easy to deal with. I have _no_ complaints, which is not something I can say of most of my previous dentists. Fair and reasonable. Talks to you like a human. Can discuss price without being defensive. I referred my wife, and my kid will go when he's old enough.
Dr. Paulerio and his staff are experienced, kind, and fair. I am the son of a dentist, and when my Dad retired, he sent me to Dr. Paulerio to pull my wisdom teeth. He pulled all 4 in just a few minutes and I was eating just a few hours later. I've been seeing him ever since! His office is very old school (NOT like a clinic) - he spends a lot of time with his patients and treats everyone like a person, and not like a number. He's fair and won't try to sell you anything that you don't need. Afterall, he grew up here so he feels very much a part of the community as we do. His office manager, Diana, has been there for over 20 years, so you can count on a smooth operation like easy to make appointments and simple billing. I highly recommend Dr. Paulerio and his staff!

I am really glad I found this clinic in my neighborhood. I have a lot of anxiety about dental work, along with TMJ and headache issues. I was fearful and worried about needing dental work. I had an urgent issue and Dr. Paulerio was able to see me in a very timely manner. He took the time to explain everything and worked with me so we come up with a good plan for my care. He listened to my concerns and was very kind and compassionate. Diana at the front desk is awesome, sweet, knowledgable, and made me feel like I was in good hands right away. Hannah did an awesome job at assisting and took a lot of care to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Paulerio was very mindful of my pain control, and I had time to rest and relax my tense jaw muscles during my treatment. Dr. Paulerio is calm, caring, experienced and thoughtful. I appreciate the thoroughness of the 3d scan which helped identify a serious issue with a tooth I did not realize needed treatment. Thank you for taking such great care of me.

I moved recently from Oakland to San Diego & unprompted, she offered to help me secure my dental records and X-rays by calling them on my behalf. I’ve been going to Dr. Paulerio’s office for over 10 years. It took a lot to get me in through the doors, since I had been avoiding the dentist due to fear. Today I actually sat in the chair and thought to myself, “I really love coming here.” I was shocked to hear myself think such a thing. The staff here is amazing. The dental hygienists use the newest state of the art technology for painless and quick dental cleanings, and are so personable. And Dr. Paulerio is the absolute best - always recommending what he thinks is the best option. So thankful for honest and understanding providers.

Dr. Paulerio from PL Family Dentistry is AWESOME. Dr Paulerio is by far the best Dentist my wife and I have ever been to. A friend recommended Dr. Paulerio and he is my dentist for life! Dr. Paulerio has fixed the work of many of my prior dentists. His staff is spectacular and together they have a synergy which shows in their amazing work. Dr. Paulerio has a machine in his office that makes crowns and he uses this new teeth cleaning technology that shows all plaque on your teeth. In the past, I'd have to have several dentist appointments to complete a crown. At Dr. Paulerio's, crowns/veneers are not only done in one visit, but they are also done correctly. Dr. P is a dental artist/expert. Recently, Dr. Paulerio did 2 veneers on my wife's front teeth. She put all her faith in Dr. P and no one would ever know her front teeth were veneers. They're incredible! My wife used to avoid photos and this has completely changed thanks to Dr. P's great work. If you're looking for a new dentist, we highly recommend him.

I've been going to Point Loma Family Dentistry for about four years now and have been very happy with their services, their skills and the pleasant environment of their office. They were very proactive in taking reasonable precautions during the pandemic and also in bringing in new technologies. Recently they have offered Guided Biofilm Therapy which has made the cleaning process more comfortable and efficient. I am happy to recommend them to anyone looking for dental services.
Best dental procedure I've ever had! Root canal to permanent crown in one day! Even the shot barely hurt, where with others it was very painful. I'll be seeing Dr. Paulerio for all my dental care now. Highly recommended!

I waited until I had just about everything I needed to do, to write a review. Dr. Paulerio was referred to me by my friend and man was he right! The Dr. is a stud, having the greatest and latest tech and being a really friendly guy, but his team is awesome as well. Starts with Diana who is fun to deal with right off the bat. The assistants are very welcoming and friendly. I had a dental implant done, my first ever, and not only was it a great experience, but extremely quick. I believe I was in and out of there within 30-40 minutes. Also had 4 fillings done in a breeze. Just had a dental cleaning and Chelsea was awesome, always keeping me distracted throughout the process. I am a wimp when it comes to pain and these folks kept me comfortable the entire time. I remember my last filling took longer for the anesthesia to kick in then it took to actually fill the tooth. One of my favorite things about this office is that the doctor and hygienist keep me updated on what they are doing and what is coming next. I deeply appreciate knowing what step I am in and how close I am to the end. Glad to have found this dental office!

I have not visited a dentist since my dentist retired several years back. Now in search of a new dentist came across Point Loma Dentistry. Was very impressed starting with my initial phone call to the office, spoke with Suzie and she was very informative. My visit was very pleasant and professional. I do need extensive work therefore lots to think about before my next appointment.

Best dental procedure I've ever had! Root canal and permanent crown in one day! Better than new! The shot barely hurt, where with other dentists the shot was very painful. I'll be seeing Dr. Paulerio for all my dental care now.

I've been a patient of Dr. Paulerio and team since around 2007. I've recently had a "fractured cusp" and they were able to fit me in and get me taken care of super quick. It's such a pleasure to see the Doc and his team.
Dr Paulerio is by far the best Dentist I've ever been to. As a child, my parents never made me brush my teeth. This was most damaging during the time I wore braces. As an adult, I've paid for the lack of dental hygiene from my youth. I've lost count of how many fillings and crowns I've had. I've been to so many Dentists from San Diego to Los Angeles. Then, I've had to go to more Dentists to fix the work of prior Dentists. A friend recommended Dr. Paulerio and he is my dentist for life! Dr. Paulerio has fixed the work of many of my prior dentists. His staff is spectacular and together they have a synergy which shows in their amazing work. Dr. Paulerio has a machine in his office that makes crowns. In the past, I'd have to have several dentist appointments to complete a crown. At Dr. Paulerio's, crowns/veneers are not only done in one visit, but they are also done correctly. Dr. P is a dental artist/expert. Today, Dr. Paulerio did 2 veneers on my front teeth. I've wanted veneers forever. In my adult life, I avoid taking photos or smiling with teeth because my front teeth are discolored (which is very noticeable on camera). I've avoided veneers because most of the ones I've seen either look fake or there's a dark line where the tooth meets the gum. I put all my faith in Dr. P and I'm sitting here typing this review with 2 of the most beautiful front teeth I've ever seen. They look completely natural and this has boosted my self esteem immensely. I can't thank Dr. P enough! I will no longer be avoiding the camera and look forward to many photos to come with my daughter and husband.....photos my daughter will cherish as the years go on. 5 stars is an understatement for this rating. PLEASE READ!! If you TRULY CARE about the health of your teeth and you want EXCELLENT service, you MUST go here. This review will be long, and I know most people won’t read it. So I had to put that statement first. No need to look for a dentist anymore, if you found this review, THIS IS THE PLACE YOU NEED TO GO FOR WHATEVER NEED YOU HAVE. My review is long but it really shows the care and professionalism I’ve received during the hardest change to my life. So if you're truly concerned about where to go, I suggest you read the WHOLE review. The health of my teeth was on the decline for a while, the dentist I went to before this one wanted to do a bunch of small surgeries to draw out the problem instead of fixing it. After being in an accident and having some of my teeth loosened, I decided to switch dentist for a second opinion. The day after the accident, I called a bunch of dentist for emergency care. The reason why I choose Dr.Paulerio was because of the receptionist Diana. Her warm personality was beaming through the phone call. It was a weird reason to choose a dentist, but it turns out it’s not just the receptionist but EVERYONE who works there had that same sense of care. Because of my teeth’s health and the accident, my best course of action was to get dentures. My whole life was going to change. The transition was one of the hardest experiences of my life but throughout the whole time Dr.Paulerio and his assistant Susan were always there to help me. They literally treated my teeth like it was their own. When I got my first set of dentures, they didn’t really fit right. I emailed them almost every week with concerns or questions. And every time I emailed, they would schedule an appointment IMMEDIATELY, sometimes even within the SAME DAY. It boggled my mind how fast each responds was. It truly felt like they cared more than I did about my teeth. Since my teeth weren’t healthy at the beginning of the process my dentures were slightly off. Dr. Paulerio noticed this immediately and wanted to do the whole process over. My situation was unique and Dr.Paulerio and Susan had to use techniques they haven’t done before all just to make sure I was happy. Their dedication to my teeth went beyond all expectations. They took so much pride in their work. No matter what problem I emailed them about, they would try anything they can to fix it. They never made me feel like I was a bother to them. And trust me, I emailed and called a lot! I’d often apologize for reaching out too much, but they always made me feel like it wasn’t a bother and that I was doing the right thing. They were just dentists, then they became friends. Friends concerned for my health and well-being. Once my teeth problems were fixed, we all laughed and celebrated together because the journey was long but we got to the end. Once again, they were just as happy as me, like they were working on their own teeth. My girlfriend went in as well, just for minor teeth care and received the same treatment. These people just care. They must love their work and the feeling of helping people. So I hope you choose this place. Because for the rest of my life, I will always lead people back to Dr.Paulerio. No matter where I live. Dr. Paulerio is an outstanding dentist. My girlfriend and I have been patients of Dr. Paulerio and his awesome team for a few years now, and between the two of us have had several crowns, fillings, root canals, and 2 Implants. He is very personable and highly skilled with a very high tech dental office. Pain or discomfort is never an issue when I'm in his chair, and my girlfriend feels the same. Dr. P performs most of the procedures that some other dentists we went to in the past would refer out to an expensive specialist. It's really nice to have everything done start to finish at his office, and his crowns are done in 1 office visit- no temporary crowns or dental labs, because he has the lab right there in his office. Chelsea, the hygienist, is very gentle, sweet, knowledgeable, and always gives the time and attention to do a thorough teeth cleaning. The office manager Diana does a great job of working with my often inconvenient schedule. Dr. P's office is great, we recommend it to anyone!
I finally found Dr. Paulerio and team after 2 other failed attempts to find a dentist in San Diego. I was referred by my boyfriend who usually hates going to the dentist but scheduled an appointment based on their reviews. After his appointment he said "you need to schedule an appointment here, they will take care of you". And he was absolutely correct! Diana, the Office Manager - is so pleasant, funny, welcoming, and warm I knew just from scheduling my appointment that I was in good hands. She even warned me while taking my temp outside (part of the many COVID procedures to keep everyone safe) that they had their AC on and I may be chilly in just my T-Shirt and Shorts (it was 88 degrees outside) so I brought in a blanket and thanks to her warning I was so comfortable during my appointment that I even joked with the hygienist that I might fall asleep! Chelsea the hygienist was absolutely amazing. She showed me my x-rays and explained in detail what she was looking at/for. The office is super clean, the team are SUPER friendly! I am a serial white knuckeler when it comes to the dentist.. I was surprisingly "calm" the last few visits... am I cured of my dentophobia? I was referred to Dr. Paulerio from a friend about 3 years ago. At the time, I was living in Point Loma so his office was very convenient. However, I moved to Rancho Bernardo about 2 years ago. Now, Dr. Paulerio's office is about 30 mins away but I still visit him, Diana, and Chelsea every 3 months for my routine cleanings - his team and services are that good. Parking is easy, they're never unreasonably behind (like so many other medical practitioners), and it always feels like they're looking out for your best interest. I'm grateful to have found them.

Super surprised by this office. On the outside it looks like a 1970s dated building, but inside it is all remodeled and Dr. Paulerio has all of the dental gadgets that you could dream of. He can even make crowns in the office!! He's a one stop shop, which is great for a person like me. His staff is so friendly too :)

First, let me say, I love Chelsea. She is an amazing dental hygienist. She has always been very thorough and very sweet. She makes her patients feel comfortable and relaxed. Dr. Paulerio is always nice and although our visits are short, he is super kind. I truly love this dentist and as a military wife, it's hard to find AMAZING dentist. I am super sad my insurance has changed and I am no longer able to attend this dentist office. However, I highly recommend Dr. Paulerio!!!!

I just visited Dr. Paulerio's office today for my bi-annual teeth cleaning. Needless to say, I was so thrilled with the excellent care, I wrote a review 4 hours later! The Office Manager Diana exceeded expectations from the get-go when she contacted me to set up an appointment. Chelsea, my Hygienist, was an absolute joy! Her vivacious, friendly personality put me at ease and her care was very informative. Lastly, Dr. Paulerio was very friendly, warm and knowledgeable. Hands down, would recommend this dental practice to anyone in the San Diego area!

LOVE this practice! My friend, a former dental hygienist, recommended Dr. Paulerio after having many disappointing experiences with dentists in the San Diego area. Three years later I continue to find that recommendations aren't made based on them making money (which I've experienced multiple times in the past) but rather based on your true dental health needs. I had an emergency regarding a locked jaw and they fit me in and gave me recommendations that worked.
Dr. P and his staff are the most caring, capable and conscientious crew in San Diego. I cannot recommend them highly enough for all aspects of dental care. I wouldn't think of having anyone else touch my mouth!
Dental hygienist Chelsea was like having my own personal cheerleader and Dr Paulerio was very personable. As I sat in my car the employees filed in, each one waived to me with a big smile. Come on, this can't be a dentist office. I walked into their office ( brand new remodel with all the new equipment) and was greeted with a big "GOOD MORNING, how was your weekend". Treating me like I was an old friend. Quickly I was shown to the "chair" yet another friendly professional person took excellent care of me. Including a visit with the dentist. All the while answering any questions I had. 90 minutes later, my cleaning finished, questions answered I was checked out quickly and my next appointment set. I just wish all my DR's appointments went with the ease of this painless and professional visit.
Dr Paulerio is a great dentist. He and his staff provide wonderful care. They are up to speed on the latest technology, they explain procedures clearly, and have excellent follow-up. I know if I have questions I can email or call any time and always get a timely response. I highly recommend Dr Paulerio and his team.

Really good service, cleaning was a breeze by Chelsea, Doctor was fabulous. I think prices are a bit inflated compared to my previous dentist but cost of living increases apply, I'm sure. The doctor tried to take into account finances and insurance particulars rather than trying to sell me products, which I appreciate. I will stick them for awhile.

As a daughter of a dentist, it's been hard in the ensuing years since my Pop's retirement. Long story, but bottom line is I'm happy with my experiences here. It's mostly just Chelsea cleaning and she is friendly and gentle. I'm not vain, but always go home, smile in the mirror and am happy with what I see. I have to say that Diana has always been the biggest smiling point. I was completely satisfied with Dr. Heintz, also. When he retired and Dr. Paulerio took over, I was hoping for a good transition. I went to Dr. Paulerio's office yesterday for the first time and had an excellent experience. Dr. Paulkerio and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I had been going to a dentist prior that I felt was preforming unnecessary services and tacking on extra charges, after my visit with Dr. Paulerio these feelings were confirmed. I am so happy to have found a dentist I can trust that is not going to preform painful and expensive services on me just to make an extra buck. I would highly recommend trying Dr. Paulerio and his staff out!
I have been going to Dr Paulerio for many years and have always been pleased with the excellent service he provides. Diana at the front desk is fantastic and keeps the office running smoothly. Chelsea is the best, I love that feeling of clean teeth after seeing her! They both are always so enthusiastic about what they do and always giving me advice on how to prevent future problems. I recently switched all 3 of my kids from a pediatric dentist to Dr Paulerio at their request and they had no complaints. One even commented on how her teeth felt much cleaner after seeing Chelsea than with the pediatric dentist.

Definitely the best dentist visit I can remember having. Diana at the front desk was very friendly, professional and awesome enough to give me a head's up the day before when she thought my insurance wouldn't fully cover my appointment. Chelsea, the dental hygienist, did the majority of my exam and cleaning. She was extremely thorough and explained all of the procedures she was employing. She was really careful that I felt comfortable and has a easy-going and friendly manner (she adorably referred to my wisdom tooth as a "wise guy"). She made me feel deservedly guilty about not flossing, but in an expertly gentle way. The office is clean and bright with nice big windows overlooking the main road. Dr. Paulerio did a final assessment and while he seconded Chelsea's concerns about my partially-erupted wisdom teeth, he presented the facts of the procedure and next steps in a pressure-free manner unlike other health care professionals I've seen. I decided I did want them removed and at the end of it all, Diana, being awesome again says "Why don't we do the [prescan for wisdom teeth removal] right now?" saving me a trip! Thanks to all!
Everything about Dr Paulerio and his staff are top notch! I had been going to my previous dentist for over 20 years when he suddenly retired. I wasn't thrilled with his replacement and decided it was time to find a new dentist. Dr Paulerio's office manager Diane was so pleasant to work with and made it simple to transfer my dental records and verify insurance coverage. I've been coming here for a couple of years now. Even though the office seems small, they do a lot of their own work right out of their lab on premises. Chelsea the hygienist is a super cool lady. So fun to chat with and she always takes the weirdness out of someone scraping the yuck off your teeth. They have the coolest photo/ X-ray technology there! I always feel like they are never missing anything! Dr Paulerio is very relaxed and professional. Very cool guy and you can tell his patients love him. I always feel like I'm in great hands between the doc and Chelsea.
Had to get my fiance in, and he hates the dentist... but he actually really liked Dr. Paulerio and his staff! They even opened up early to squeeze us in! I think I will be switching over to a new dentist!

My previous dentist in Claremont Mesa was like attending a cross between a cattle call and what I imagine seeing the prison dentist must be like.... I can't recommend Dr. Paulerio highly enough!

My wife's perspective: The staff is super friendly. The building always has open parking spots. I genuinely like the doctor. My perspective: The staff is in fact super friendly. There are always parking spots. The doctor is very nice. My wife had her wisdom teeth taken out here and she was in a lot of pain. I came down here and explained the pain situation to the doctor and he happily obliged my request for stronger drugs for my wife. Summary: Friendly staff, great building, and is led by a great doctor who genuinely cares about making sure you're happy/comfortable. Easiest 5 stars I've ever awarded.

I was a patient of the previous dentist, Dr Heintz, since I began going to dentists so it's nice to still see Diana's smiling face in the office and it's nice to know I still have a dentist that I can trust. I was a patient of the previous dentist and reluctantly switched to Dr. Paulerio when the previous dentist retired. I've been thrilled! I've had to have several crowns, which Dr. Paulerio makes in his office the day of your appointment. I've never had such great results, so yesterday I had him crown my two upper front teeth for cosmetic reasons. Such a wonderful transformation, I couldn't be more pleased. Dr. Paulerio is an artist. You couldn't find a better dentist anywhere.
I was one of Dr Paulerio's first patients when he joined this practice with the previous Dr, and he has always been exceptional. He is very gentle when working on my teeth, and makes sure that my problems with a high tolerance to pain medication doesn't cause problems when getting my teeth numbed. The staff is always interested in what is going on in their patients' lives, and really gets to know each patient personally. Diana is more than just a receptionist, she is a genuinely caring person who wants to make sure you have the best experience possible while there. Everyone I have come across is very friendly, and they are willing to work with you if you have a legitimate financial problem and need to work out a payment system. I have recommended Dr Paulerio to ALL of my friends who need a good dentist, and will continue to do so. The only downside is they don't take medi-cal or medicare. Other than that, no complaints! My entire family (30+ people, all over San Diego) travel to Point Loma to see him!

Dr. P became our dentist after Dr. Heinz retired. There's never been a lull in the excellent service provided. Not only do I drive from Carlsbad but so does my husband and adult sons for cleaning and dental work. Both of my sons attended school in Northern Ca.. When they had dental issues Dr. P's receptionist Diana answered all of our questions, consulting Dr. P if necessary. I always appreciated the 2nd opinion. Diana is amazing. She has a lot of dental expertise for someone who isn't a dentist. She answers my dental insurance questions and is always cheery and nice. We've been going to that office for 20+ years. I never worry about the prices quoted because they are completely reasonable. In North County we got quoted a very high dental bill $10-12,000 for our kid's dental work and after talking with Diana and Dr. P. we figured out that the new dentist was going to remove every filling and replace them. With Point Loma Dentist you get honesty in pricing and excellence in dentistry. I can't say enough about them.

In mid May I broke a molar, was leaving town and they got me in with little to no notice. Repaired the tooth painlessly and got me set up for an appointment to get a crown. Today I received the crown, they use state of the art imaging and fabrication technology so the entire procedure is done in a single visit, again painlessly. Your can actually watch the crown being created which is a very interesting process in and of itself. Dr. Paulerio is Incredibly considerate, professional and also part artist. His staff is equally reviewed. My entire family comes to this office and I highly recommend. By the way, I do not like going to the dentist so for me to actually feel this good about the experience says something.

I had some problems with my teeth/gums and while I was so nervous to find out what was going on, Dr. Paulerio was so calm and honest when he perfectly explained what was going on with my oral health, but assured me I was going to be okay and this would be taken care of. I was relieved! Dr. Paulerio is really nice, along with his staff members. One of the other dentist, Chelsea, is the one who worked on my mouth, and all I have to say is she is super sweet! She made me feel comfortable and relaxed. During the whole time of my little procedure, I wasn't feeling anxious or scared like I would normally be when I see any other dentist or doctor. And if I ever one day have kids, I will for sure bring them to Dr. Paulerio.I even had my boyfriend come to them for his check up and he approved of this dentistry. I strongly recommend this place! The staff are easy to talk to, they'll make you feel comfortable, and most of all very nice.
Coming from a serious dental-phobe, Dr. Paulerio is the real deal. He and his staff are super professional and empathetic regarding my dental needs. I've been to him a few times, and the experience has only gotten better. Both he and his dental hygienist are very gentle - very little pain if any during my cleaning. And everything is very state of the art, up to date, top notch medical equipment. I'm yelping this review as he is creating my crown for me in his office! Amazing dentist! Highly recommend this office.
I hardly ever make Yelp reviews, but I thought I would make one for this dentist office because I appreciated so much their honesty and good business ethics. The past two dentists I went two completely tried to up sell me on all these procedures and things that I simply didn't need. Louis did the opposite, and told me that my mouth was "boring" and that I am good to go. ha. The staff was wonderful as well. I am super to have found a solid, honest, local dentist. Yah!

They were able to make me feel relaxed, and well informed. I greatly appreciate the time they put into explaining everything to me from what my insurance covers, and what to expect during my appointment. I never felt that I was being rushed through my appoinment or afraid to ask a question. I highly recommend this office!

This dentist is amazing! I have always hated going to the dentist because my teeth are so sensitive. I told him this and he made sure I was very comfortable before starting. I no longer put off going to the dentist. He makes it pain free. He is a great dentist and his staff is outstanding as well. I would highly recommend this dentist. You will not be disappointed.
Dr Paulerio was just wonderful! He did some spectacular work on my teeth and I am happy to show my smile!. He is professional and kind and does not make you feel like you need to be rushed in and out. I will definately recommend him to family and friends.
Dr. Paulerio has spent many hours with me in the chair. Is it fun? No. Is he good? Yes. He is expanding recently and has a few new faces on the staff. He's a quality guy and hires quality people. His office mgr (Diana) has been around for years and is incredibly easy to deal with. I have _no_ complaints, which is not something I can say of most of my previous dentists. Fair and reasonable. Talks to you like a human. Can discuss price without being defensive. I referred my wife, and my kid will go when he's old enough.
Dr. Paulerio and his staff are experienced, kind, and fair. I am the son of a dentist, and when my Dad retired, he sent me to Dr. Paulerio to pull my wisdom teeth. He pulled all 4 in just a few minutes and I was eating just a few hours later. I've been seeing him ever since! His office is very old school (NOT like a clinic) - he spends a lot of time with his patients and treats everyone like a person, and not like a number. He's fair and won't try to sell you anything that you don't need. Afterall, he grew up here so he feels very much a part of the community as we do. His office manager, Diana, has been there for over 20 years, so you can count on a smooth operation like easy to make appointments and simple billing. I highly recommend Dr. Paulerio and his staff!
